Billy Gene Cantrell

Mr. Billy G. Cantrell age 76 of the Belk Community of DeKalb County, passed away Sunday morning at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER.  He was born August 25, 1941 to his parents, the late Horace and Euna Young Cantrell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters, Effie Head, Jeffie Humphrey, Ressie Taylor, Ruth Binkley, Fate, Arlie, James, Leslie, Horace Jr., Doris, Gentry, Charlie and Elzie Cantrell.  Billy was a member of the Mt. Hope The Baptist Church and attended the New Union The Baptist Church and retired from Federal Mogul.  Billy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Graham Cantrell of Smithville; 3 children, Bobby Cantrell of Smithville, Donna (Phillip) Summerford of Smithville and Darryl (Rachel) Cantrell of Smithville; 5 grandchildren, Hope, Hailey, Hannah, Mari and Ethan Cantrell; 1 sister, Ethel Redmon of McMinnville; 1 brother, Dennie Cantrell of McMinnville; 3 sisters-in-law, Maureen Cantrell, Jean Cantrell and Helen Whitman all of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Phillip Summerford and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in New Union Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 4:PM until 8:PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
