Georgia Lee Merriman age 88 of Smithville, passed away Monday afternoon, January 16, 2017 at Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital. She was born October 6, 1928 to her parents the late George and Allie Taylor Melton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Merriman; 2 daughters Annie Stacy Merriman and Linda Osment; 1 sister Christine Hale.  She was a Baptist and a retired shirt factory worker. Survivors include 5 children, Carolyn and (Jimmy) Agee of Smithville, Patricia and (Donald) Canerdy of Alabama, Eddie and (Angela) Merriman of Smithville, Michael and (Myra) Merriman of Smithville, Rachel and (Trent) Phipps of Smithville; 10 Grandchildren, Gidget L. Malone, Ginda Kilgore, Dr. Brian Agee, Kayla Adams, Katie Merriman, Alex Canerdy, Joshua Canerdy, Jacob Canerdy, Haylee Merriman, Haydan Merriman; and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Zach Malone, Kolter Kilgore, Kora Kilgore, Daniel Adams, Lucas Phipps; 1 sister, Clara Dodd; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Thursday, January 19, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Frank Bratcher and Bro. Bernard Houk officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 1:PM until 8:PM  and Thursday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
