John Edward "J.E." Gay age 81 of McMinnville, passed away Thursday morning, October 26, 2017 at his residence.  He was born October 3, 1936 to his parents, the late Marvin Lee and Elizabeth Taylor Gay.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 sisters and 2 brothers.  J.E. was a Primitive Baptist and a retired nurseryman and builder.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Gay of McMinnville; 2 daughters, Kathy (Danny) Cantrell of Van Buren Co., and Tressa (J.B.) Moore of McMinnville; 4 grandchildren, Travis (Tara) Rigsby of McMinnville, Jason (Kris) Moore of Paris, TN, Michael (Allison) Moore of McMinnville, Joshua (Samantha) Moore of McMinnville; 4 great-grandchildren, Carter and Lauren Rigsby, John Sawyer Moore and James Luke Moore; 1 brother, James Gay of Murfreesboro; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Louise Cantrell and Lillian (Brownie) Tittsworth of Smithville, Judy Cantrell of McMinnville; brother-in-law, Dale Cantrell of Knoxville.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 1:PM until 6:PM and Sunday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2:PM.
