Gwendolyn Gail Sandell age 55 of Smithville and a native of Dayton, TN, passed away Saturday morning, July 29, 2017 at her residence.  She was born October 27, 1961 to her parents, Cecil and Helen Chandler Aurthor.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death brother, Wayne Phillips; 2 sisters, Angie Rose and Terri Thurman and 1 grandson, Tucker Lee Crane.  Mrs. Sandell was a CNA with Rhea County Medical Center.  She is survived by her husband, Bill Sandell of Smithville; son, Joshua Lee (Brittany) Crane of Dayton; 1 grandson, Tanner Lee Crane; sister, Connie Brock; 2 nieces, Nikki Rose and Erin Rose.  The family has honored Mrs. Sandell's request to be cremated and there are no services planned.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
