James "Jim" R. Brown

James R. "Jim" Brown age 66 of Smithville, passed away suddenly Monday, February 19, 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland.  He was born May 18, 1951 to his parents, the late Robert and Jeanette Patterson Brown.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Wayne and Alice Breer.  Jim was a engineer with Siemens, a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cherie Brown of Smithville; 2 sons, Todd Brown of Huntington, WV and Eric and wife Joy Brown of Portland, TN; 2 grandsons, Ethan Brown and Eli Brown; 2 brothers, David and wife Carla Brown of Florida and Rob and wife Steph Brown of Vermont; 2 brothers-in-law, Danny Breer of Vermont and Wayne and wife Maryann Breer of Vermont; sister-in-law, Marcy and husband, Fran Beede of Vermont; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.  The family has honored Jim's request to be cremated and will have a private service.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made DeKalb Animal Coalition, in memory of Jim.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
