Billy Ross Rankhorn age 86 of the Green Hill Community of Warren County, passed away Saturday morning, January 10, 2026, at his residence. He was born August 31, 1939, in the Belk Community to his parents, the late James Findley "Fed" and Minnie Lee Green Rankhorn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 siblings, Onia Mae Roberts, Shadie Oval Rankhorn, John Leonard Rankhorn, Robert L. Rankhorn, James Edward Rankhorn, Arthur Franklin Rankhorn, Sarah Edna Tenpenny, and Daisy Magalene Rankhorn; brothers-in-law, Ernest Leverne Barnes and Willard Twain Barnes; special nephew, Jonathan Stewart Barnes. Billy Ross worked in tool & die and served in the National Guard and U.S. Army. He was a member of the New Union The Baptist Church of Christ. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Rankhorn of McMinnville; two sisters, Betty Jean Bowdion of Walling and Alta Leella Young of Sanford, FL; sister-in-law, Janis Barnes of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, January 12, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Frank Randolph and Andy Estes officiating and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery with Bro. Dwight Knowles officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 1 PM until 6 PM and Monday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jefferson Cemetery, in memory of Billy Ross. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Rankhorn family.
