Dorothy Jean Young age 96 of Smithville, passed away at Tuesday morning at the Webb House in Smithville. She was born April 16, 1928, to her parents the late Harold Mason and Louvella Tittsworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smoot Young, Sr.; sons, Billy Smoot "Bill" Young, Jr. and Joe Mason Young; sister, Bobbie Lynn Betty. Ms. Young was a faithful member of the Smithville Church of Christ and a homemaker. She is survived by daughter, Laura Lynn (John) Carter of McMinnville; daughter-in-law, Joanie Young of McMinnville; grandchildren, Andrew (Trista) Carter, Caroline (Tyler) Cantrell, Matt (Brandi) Young, and Josh Young; great-grandchildren, Emberly and Ethan Carter, Carter, Parker, and Reese Cantrell, Destiny (Jesse) Hanley, Brianna Young, Kylie Young, Matt Young, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Young. Graveside services will be 3:PM Thursday August 15, 2024, at DeKalb Memorial Gardens, with Billy Willingham and Bro. Dan Gulley officiating. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery. In addition to flowers donations may be made to either the Smithville Church of Christ or Day School or the American Heart Association. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the Webb House and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care shown Ms. Young. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Young family.
