George Douglas Parrish

George Douglas Parrish, age 91, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away from this life January 26, 2021 in Lebanon, Tennessee.  He was born at his family home in Nashville on October 12, 1929 weighing an incredible 14 pounds to Dewey Samuel and Edna Erma Parrish. George married his high school sweetheart, Melissa Lorene Parrish, whom he met at the skating rink. The two eloped in Kentucky at the young age of 17. They were married for 68 years. George owned the Clean-O-Matic Carpet Cleaning business that he ran with his wife for many years. The two were trusted to care for the homes of many customers in the Nashville area, along with many of Nashville's finest country music stars' homes and tour buses. George is survived by his daughter, Sherrie Lynn Thomas (Drew) ; sister, Mary Ellen Frizell; daughter-in-law, Judy Elaine Parrish; grandson, James Thomas Mathison II (Julia); granddaughters, Dana Elaine Spicer (Danny) and Kristi Cherie Scott (Ryan), and 12 great grand-children and  5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Douglas Glen Parrish, and brother, James Parrish. George was a beloved Husband, Daddy, and Pa. A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 29th, 2021 at the DeKalb Memorial Gardens.  There will not be any visitation or services at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service at 11:00am.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
