Helen Ruth (Vandagriff) Burt

Helen Ruth Vandagriff Burt age 89 of Alexandria and formerly of the Dry Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, October 24, 2022 at Quality Care Health and Rehab in Lebanon.  She was born May 27, 1933 to her parents, the late John Floyd and May Farler Vandagriff.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Sherwood D. Burt; daughter, Debbie O'Connor; son, Rickey Parsley; 2 sons-in-law, Jere O'Connor and Kenneth Corley; grandson, Phillip Parsley, Jr.; 2 sisters, Cornelia Collins, Audrey Frazier and brother, Joe Vandagriff.  She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Chruch in Lebanon.  Helen worked at Better Bilt Aluminum in Nashville and Alexandria Garment then her last employment was at DeKalb Middle School Cafeteria.  She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 children, Phillip (Janice) Parsley of Smyrna; Larry (Miriam) Parsley of Murfreesboro and Vicki Corley of Alexandria; 13 grandchildren, Sharon, Laverne, James, Amy, Dustin, Mike, Leslie, Josh, Caleb, Stacie, Kim, Nick and Erica; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fay Vandagriff Elrod of Smithville and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be 1:PM Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Terry Carver and Dusty Bradley officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Liberty.  Visitation will be Tuesday 4:PM until 7:PM and Wednesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
