James Phillip Evans

James Phillip Evans age 69 of Smithville passed away Sunday morning, September 5, 2021 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER in Smithville. He was born October 31, 1951 to his parents the late James Floyd and Edith Young Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Michael "Odell" Evans, and Jerry Evans; sister-in-law: Brenda Robinson; brother-in-law: Staley Washer. He was a nurseryman. Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Linda Evans of Smithville; son: Timothy Evans (Charlotte) of Rock Island; 2 grandchildren: Braylen and Addilyn; nephew: Jason (Sharon) Evans of Smithville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jimmy  Washer of Cookeville, Doyle (Marie) Washer of Smithville, Billy (Sharon) Washer of Smithville, Carolyn Chapman of Smithville, Kathy Henry of Smithville, Bobby Washer of Smithville, Ada (Jim) Qualls of McMinnville, Claudine (Darrell) Pedigo of McMinnville, Betty Jo (Robert) Lawson of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 11:AM Tuesday September 14, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Joey Spicer officiating and burial to follow in the New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday September 13, 2021 from 4:PM until 7:PM and on Tuesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. Due to COVID the funeral home lounge is closed and NO food or drinks are allowed in the building.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
