James F. "Jim" Sparks

James F. "Jim" Sparks, age 72 passed away, Sunday, April 2, 2023 at his residence in Smithville. He was born July 9, 1950 to his parents the late John  Frank and Caroline Sheets Sparks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Brian Braswell; half-brother, Kenneth Sparks, sister-in-law, Cheryl Sparks. Mr. Sparks grew up in a Catholic Church and worked in Construction. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Sparks of Smithville; 2 children, Jennifer Braswell of Smithville, and Jimmy (Tonyia) Sparks of Smithville; grandchildren, Jerica (Dillan) Reeder, Bryson Braswell, Zack (Chelsey) Sparks, Kamien Sparks, Skyler Sparks; great-grandchildren, LaiKynn Sparks, Kaizlee Sparks and Kaide Frazier; brother, Dave Sparks of MI.; half-sister, Teresa Norman of Ark.; half-borthers, John Sparks of Ark.; and Bill Sparks of Ark.; niece, April Sparks of MI.; nephew, David (Jenny) Sparks,JR. MI.; great niece, Jordan Sparks; great nephews, Connor and Brady Sparks. Funeral service will be held Wednesday April 5, 2023 at 11:00AM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Robert "Bobby" Brandon officiating and burial to follow in Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday April 4, 2023 at 3:00PM till 7:00PM and on Wednesday April 5, 2023 9:00AM until the time of the service at 11:00AM. Pallbearers included Zach Sparks, Skyler Sparks, Bryson Braswell, Dillon Reeder, Jimmy Sparks, Joey Redmon, and Phillip Redmon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
