James "Hounddog" Vernon Youngblood

James "Hounddog" Youngblood age 90 of Dowelltown, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 15, 2025.  He was born August 25, 1934, to his parents, the late Alfred Dellon and Velma Judd Youngblood.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Youngblood; 3 sisters, Peggy Hale, Goldie Hale and Francis Hogan.  He attended the Dowelltown Baptist Church and worked at the rock quarry.  Mr. James is survived by 4 children, Wade (Tonya) Youngblood of Dowelltown, Teresa Youngblood Lamey of Westmoreland, Jeffery (Jeanette) Youngblood of Liberty and Doreta (Melvin) Haynes of Lebanon; 2 grandchildren, Jarrad Lamey and Christina Youngblood; 1 great granddaughter, Violet Lamey; brother-in-law, Billy Hale of Smithville.  Funeral services will be 1:PM Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Curtis Price officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Monday 4:PM until 7:PM and Tuesday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Youngblood family.
