Janet Lee (Bates) Hawker

Janet Lee Hawker age 62, of Smithville, passed away Monday afternoon September 27, 2021 at her home.  She was born October 14, 1958 in Smithville to her parents, the late Homer and Juanita Johnson Bates.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Donald Lane Bates, Sandra Bates, Wanda Kay Pack, Ronald Wayne Bates, Sheron Ann Whitworth and Tony Bates.  She was a hairdresser.  She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter, Megan Cunningham of Liberty; 2 sons, Brandon (Sunnie Day) White of West Virginia and Braxton White of Nashville; 2 grandchildren, Lillie Rose Cunningham and Catherine Lexus Pennington; 1 brother, Kenny (Maira) Bates of Smithville; 1 sister, Thelma Martin of Smithville; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Michelle Mink.  The family has chosen a direct cremation and a private service will be held at a later date.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
