Jerry Clayton Comfort

Jerry Clayton Comfort age 70 of Smithville, passed away Thursday evening October 28, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.  He was born June 21, 1951 to his parents, the late William A. and Vernie Mae Byford Comfort, Jr.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, William G. Comfort and a brother-in-law, Earl Dyer.  Jerry was a factory worker and truck driver.  He attended the Smithville First Assembly of God, where he helped with the church vans and maintaining the church.  Jerry was a community volunteer at Edgar Evins State Park and at God's Food Pantry.  He is survived by 2 sisters, Carolyn Dyer and Barbara Comfort both of Smithville; sister-in-law, Goldie Comfort of Williamstown, NJ; niece, Charlotte (Crystal) Malone of Sparta; nephew, David (Linda) Comfort of Williamstown, NJ; great-nephew, William Comfort; several cousins also survive.  Funeral services will be 2:PM Monday, November 1, 2021 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Iain Swisher and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in memory of Jerry.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
