Jimmy Lee Kimbrell

September 12, 1944 ~ January 11, 2020 (age 75)

Obituary

Jimmy Kimbrell, age 75, of Dowelltown, TN passed from this life to his heavenly home on January 11, 2020.

Jimmy was born on September 12, 1944 in Lawrenceburg, TN to the late Lawrence and Maggie Kimbrell and grew up in the Iron City community.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Woodrow and Louise Frazier, brothers-in-law, John Larry and Joe Ronald “Ronnie” Frazier, his sister-in-law, Billie Ann Frazier, his nephew, Ronald Frazier, and great nephew, Ryan Frazier.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Frazier Kimbrell, his daughter, Monica (David) Reynolds and grandchildren, Levi and Molly Reynolds, his sister, Judy Ann (Steve) Beard, sisters-in-law, Peggy (Carroll) Thomas, Deborah (Wayne “Buddy”) Fuson, Kathy (Ricky) Hendrix, Lisa (Jerald) Cripps, Rita Fuson-Frazier.  He is also survived by his aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, special great nieces Elizabeth and Olivia Miller, great nephews, and cousins.  He leaves with cherished memories a host of fishing and traveling companions.

“Pop” Jimmy taught us to put God first – always, love, be kind and to always find the humor in everything.  The glass is always half full and these things that occur in this life are all “part of the journey”.

Jimmy graduated from Loretto High School in 1962. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve for 6 years and worked at TRW in Lebanon for many years where he later retired.

He was a faithful member of Dry Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member.  Throughout the years, he also served on various committees within the church, and for many years was in charge of managing the food services for the Wednesday night meals.  He dearly loved his family, church family and friends.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the many visitors over the past few months and Avalon Hospice personnel for their compassionate and professional care.

Visitation will be held at DeKalb Funeral Chapel from 12 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1: p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens officiating and burial following in the nearby Frazier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Dry Creek Baptist Church children’s music program or Gideon’s International.

Dekalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
