John Edward Michael

John Edward Michael age 82, of Smithville, passed away Tuesday September 27, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. He was born October 25, 1939 to his parents, the late James and Pearl Michael. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Billy, Lee, and Eugene; 1 sister: Elizabeth.  Mr. John was a member of Northside Baptist Church in McMinnville where he served as a Deacon, served in the United States Air Force and worked as an Engineer with Carrier Cooperation. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bettie Michael of Smithville; 2 daughters: Johnna West of Smithville, and Lori Michael of Smithville; 3 grandchildren: Sarah (Billy) Fuson, Ashley (Quentin) Cook, Waylon West and fiance Samantha Ballard; 4 great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Fuson, Aubree Fuson, Aiden Cook and Brilee Fuson; 2 sisters: Mary Michael, and Betty Riggins. Funeral services will be 4:PM Friday, September 30, 2022 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in the New Union Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday 4:PM till 8:PM and on Friday 12:PM until the time of the service at 4:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
