Lawrence Frederick Galten age 61 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 27, 1958 in Savannah, GA to his parents, the late Robert Frank and Sherry Ann Galten. Lawrence was a member of Outreach Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran and a factory worker. He is survived by 2 children, Malia (Scott) Kowitt of Chandler, AZ and Alan (Nicole) Galten of Bellemont, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Sarai Crawford, Cy Durfee and Lucy Galten. The family has honored Mr. Galten's request to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 2:PM Friday July 17, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating and inurnment will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:PM until the time of the service at 2:PM. Due to COVID-19, the Governors Executive Orders 38 and 51 and Social Distancing Guidelines; Our pews in the Chapel are marked off to respect the guidelines and allow approximately 100-125 people for the service, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise Social Distancing. The Funeral Home Lounge is Closed and NO Food or Drinks allowed in the funeral home. The Memorial Service will be live-streamed on DeKalb Funeral Chapel Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Animal Coalition, in memory of Lawrence. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
