Lawrence "Larry" Cantrell

Lawrence "Larry" Cantrell age 67 of Smithville passed away Thursday October 12, 2023, at his residence from an extensive battle with cancer. He was a life-long resident of the Blue Springs Community. He was born January 10, 1956, to his late father, Lawrence Parker Cantrell and his mother, Mary Lou Phillips Cantrell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, James Cordell Lawson. Mr. Cantrell gave his life to Jesus at Bethel Methodist Church where he is a member and was baptized in the Lassiter swimming hole. Mr. Larry loved gardening and caring for plants. He worked in nursery and was a maintenance worker. He will be sadly missed by his family that survives including his mother, Mary Lou Cantrell Lawson of Smithville; sisters, Deborah (Lee) Smith of Cookeville, Vicky (Donald) Langston of FL., and Catherine McKeown of Smithville; brother, Edward (Roberta) Cantrell of Harriman; step-brother, Bill (Sharon) Lawson of Texas; step-sister, Teresa (Paul) Jones of Texas; nieces and nephews, Daniel (Lydia) Langston, Stephen (Anna) Cantrell, Jessica (Elliott) Thompson, Stephanie (Dree) Simmons, and Elijah (Nastasia) Cantrell. Funeral services will be held 10:AM Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Bethel Methodist Church with Bro. Gerald Taylor officiating and burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 3:PM till 7:PM and Saturday 9:AM until the time of the service at 10:AM all at Bethel Methodist Church.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
