Michael Clayborn was born July 16, 1952, and departed this life on Tuesday June 2, 2026, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was the son of the late Ed and Lorretta Parkerson Clayborn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pattie Clayborn; son, Brian Scott Clayborn and brother, Charles Clayborn. He was saved at the age of 10, was called into the ministry in 1973 and was a member of the New Home Baptist Church. Bro. Mike, as he was known by many people, preached revivals, pulpit supply and pastored several churches for about 50 years. Mike served as DeKalb County Court Clerk from 2002 to 2014. Mike was a true UT fan and bled orange. He is survived by two sons, Michael Patrick (Wendy) Clayborn of Dowelltown and Matthew Braden (Amber) Clayborn of Smithville; three grandchildren, Emily and Ella Clayborn and Jacob Moore; sister, Joyce Boyd of Smithville; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Jan Clayborn. Funeral services will be 4:30 Friday June 5, 2026 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Jack Patterson and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday 4 PM until 7 PM and Friday 11 AM until the time of the service at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church of your choice in memory of Mike. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Clayborn family.
