Mrs. Jean A. Cook, affectionately known as "Nanny" age 91 of Alexandria, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2024 at her residence. She was born July 12, 1933 to her parents, the late B. and Mai Foutch Akin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Cook; son, Barry Cook and sister, Frances Haley. Jean was a member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church and she and her late husband Buddy, ran a diary farm for years and she also worked at the DeKalb West School Cafeteria. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Butch) Agee of Liberty; daughter-in-law, Teresa Cook Roberts of Walling; 7 grandchildren, Josh (January) Agee, Joey (Casey) Agee, Amanda Loring, Troy Cook, Morgan Thaxton (Taylor) Bain, Eddie (Kiersten) Parrish and Jake Parrish; 12 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Vaden, Lucas, Teagan, Avery, Jordyn, Dallas, Alley Beth, Drew, Navie, Indie and Kennedy; special friend, Stephanie Tiner. Funeral services will be 2:PM Monday, September 2, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Josh and Joey Agee officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery with Bro. Jimmy Arms officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 12:30PM until 8:PM and Monday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Upper Helton Baptist Church, Building Fund, Salem Cemetery or New Hope Cemetery, in memory of Mrs. Jean. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for the Cook family.
