Sarah Opal (DeVault) Atnip

Sarah Opal Atnip age 82 of Smithville, passed away Sunday January 14, 2024 at her home.  She was born May 16, 1942 to her parents, the late William Earl DeVault and Helen DeVault Burdett.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 8 children, Rickey DeVault, Anthony DeVault, Terry Ferrell, Jeffery Ferrell, Dennis Ferrell, Garry Ferrell, Larry Ferrell and Charles Ferrell; and brother, Roy DeVault.  She was a nurse assistant and worked at the DeKalb County Health Department for 28 years.  She is survived by sons, Scott Ferrell, Chris Ferrell and Wayne Ferrell; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Faye Wells.  Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Thursday, January 18, 2024 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is honored to care for Ms. Opal's family.
