Thomas Monroe Young age 90, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at his residence. He was born June 21, 1936, to his parents the late Monroe and Edith Evans Young. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Faye Sandlin Young; son, Timothy Young; sisters, Elizabeth Mahler, Izena Griffin and Sue Guy; brother, Grady Young. Mr. Young was a member of Pomeroy Chapel Brethren in Christ Church. He served in the United States Army & National Guard and was a factory worker. Thomas is survived by his daughter-in-law, Karen Young of Smithville; sister, Peggy (Gary) Blankenship; grandson, Jessie (Megan) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Dylan (Shanelle) Anderson and Lane Anderson; 2 sisters-in-law, Linda Young and Geneva (Tommy) Taylor; special niece and friend, Rita Houk; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, July 5, 2026, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Bryan Jones, Donnie Kelly and Bernard Houk officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday 12 Noon until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, in memory of Mr. Thomas.
