Billy Smith age 77 of Dowelltown passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at his residence.  He was born January 24, 1940 to his parents, the late Lloyd Brown and Nancy Parlee Braswell Smith.  In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Davis; great-grandson, Dallas Davenport; brother, Jimmy Smith; niece, Penny Wilson.  Mr. Bill was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the City of Smithville.  Survivors include his wife, Frances Smith of Dowelltown; 7 children, Randy Smith of Woodbury, Tina Knowles of McMinnville, Henry "H.L." Smith of Dowelltown, Angela (Troy) Bain of Smithville, Danny Ponder of Nashville, Gary and Jeff Ponder both of Smithville; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday, March 5, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Blues Hill Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 2:PM until 8:PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel, to help with funeral expenses.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
