Richard Ernest Temple, Jr. age 69 of Smithville, passed away Friday morning at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born October 22, 1948 in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Cashman Temple, Sr. He was a retired tow motor operator at Nissan, a member and Sunday School teacher at Calvary Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Elaine Temple of Smithville; 3 children, Cheryl Temple of New York, Kelly (Mike) Lawson of Smyrna and Raymond (Carla) Temple of Antioch; 2 step-sons, Brad (Jennifer) Evans and Justin (Brittany) Evans both of Sparta; 6 grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Emily, Michael and Carson Lawson and Brayden Temple; 6 step-grandchildren, Christiana, Courtney, Riley, Jordan and Mikayla Evans and Allen Evans; 1 sister, Jean Skinner of Massachusetts. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Thursday, August 16, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Martin officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 5:PM until 8:PM and Thursday 10:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, in memory of Richard. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
