Betty Jean Spencer

Betty Jean Spencer age 79 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at her residence. She was born April 27, 1940  to her parents, the late Willie and Idabell Crook. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jewell Spencer; grandson, Brian Spencer; daughter-in-law, Karen Spencer; granddaughter-in-law, Hailey Vanderpool. Ms. Spencer was a retired nurse and a manger at Hardees. She is survived by, children, Steve Spencer of Smithville, Debbie (Donnie) Bartley of Lavergne, JoAnn (Danny) Bradford of Fair View, Tn.; grandchildren, Richard (Carley) Vanderpool, Matthew Vanderpool, Robert Spencer, David Spencer, Hope Spencer, Kayla Spencer, Brandon Spencer, Amy (Adam) Smith, Danny Wayne Bradford, Mitchell (Brittney) Bradford; 23 great-grandchildren;  sister, Joyce Marie Hale; brothers, Charles Crook, Wayne Crook, and J.T. Crook. Funeral services will be 1;PM Friday August 30,2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Curtis Young officiating and burial will follow in Dismal Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 4:PM until 8:PM and on Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
