Jo Dean (Atnip) Cathcart

Jo Dean Cathcart age 92 of the Snow Hill Community and for the last several years, she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Murfreesboro.  She was born June 24, 1930, to her parents, the late Clarance Napoleon and Era Sedella Smith Atnip.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Cathcart; daughter, Vivian Ann Cathcart and sister Jo Nell Judkins.  She worked as a secretary and then the shirt factory and was a homemaker.  Ms. Jo Dean was a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church where she served as the Treasurer for many years.  She enjoyed working in her flowers and gardening.  She leaves to cherish her memory, 1 daughter, Vicky (Stephen) White of Murfreesboro; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie (Aaron) Lawrence of Murfreesboro and Daniel (Jessica) White of Springfield; 4 great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Lucas Averette, Logan and Carly Lawrence; niece, Jackie Ray of Smithville.  Funeral services will be 1:PM Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Steve Puckett and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be on Monday 4:PM until 7:PM and Tuesday 11:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM.  In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Snow Hill Baptist Church or the Gideon Bible Program, in memory of Ms. Jo Dean.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
