Lester Hayes

Lester Hayes age 95, of Sparta passed away April 24, 2023, at NHC Healthcare in Sparta. He was born May 1, 1927, to his parents the late Elzie and Grace Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 children, James Hayes and Mary Hayes; great-grandchild, Reeves Thomas; brothers Chester and Beecher Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a Baptist and worked for over 40 years at Chrysler and worked as a Chrysler salesman for 16 years.  Mr. Hayes was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He is survived by grandchildren, Troy Thomas, Scott (Amanda) Hayes, Eric Hayes, Jaime (Shayne) Whiteaker, Chris (Nikki) Thomas, and Megan (JJ) Hendrixson; great-grandchildren, Tessa Thomas, Alex (Kelsey) Hayes, Lexie Hayes, Allyson (Lucas) Young, Luke Hayes, Kensley Whiteaker, and Alyssa Hayes; great-great-grandchildren, Kelsea, Raymond, Kyler, Remington, Reagan, and Raya. Funeral services will be held 5:30 PM Friday, April 28, 2023 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Stewart Orell officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 4:PM until the time of the service at 5:30PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
