Roger Howard Schaffnit

Roger Howard Schaffnit age 64 of Smithville, passed away Friday night, December 28, 2018 at his residence.  He was born December 27, 1954 to his parents, the late Vilas and Hazel Talcott Schaffnit.  Roger was a Mason and member of Liberty Lodge #77/Center Hill Lodge and was a police officer.  He is survived by his wife, Pamela Schaffnit of Smithville; 3 children, Cayla Mahaney (Chris) Hale, Krista Dawn Mahaney (James Mullican) and Michael Justin Maggart (Devin Lancaster); 12 grandchildren, Makenzie Ray, Caden Clark, Kailey Herron, Braxton Roller, Kinzi Foutch, Michael Ray Maggart, Addison Hale, Jacksten Sanders, Sylar Sanders, Carson Maggart, Pacey Maggart and Brayden Maggart; 1 sister, Cindy (Lou) Lara of California.  The family has honored Roger's request to be cremated and no services are planned.  DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
